Angry Otter Liquor Expands Again
January 11, 2024

Otter Co-op is proud to share continued growth in Penticton, as the retail Co-operative will be acquiring the Jaks Liquor Store located at Cherry Lane Shopping Centre. The liquor store will soon be rebranded to Otter Co-op’s Angry Otter Liquor chain of stores, bringing us to a collective 30 liquor stores under the banner.

Angry Otter Liquor is currently the province’s largest private liquor retailer, with locations spanning throughout the Lower Mainland and Thompson-Okanagan regions. This acquisition grows Otter Co-op to a total of six locations in Penticton, including four gas bars and the Riverside Liquor Store. Otter Co-op also operates another Angry Otter Liquor location in Summerland. Last year, Otter Co-op donated over $400,000 to local community organizations and initiatives, and its members received over $6.2 million in cashback and equity based on their purchases. You don’t have to be a member to shop at Otter Co-op and Angry Otter Liquor locations, but for a once-in-a-lifetime $10 fee, you can share in our profits as well.

“We are incredibly excited for the continued expansion of the Otter Co-op and Angry Otter Liquor brands.” Said Jack Nicholson, CEO of Otter Co-op. “This investment allows us to expand the number of services we directly provide our members within the Penticton community. As with all Otter commodities, we look forward to sharing our profits back with our members and continuing to build on giving back to the communities in which we live, work, play and do business in.”

The location will remain with the Jaks signage until the Angry Otter Liquor rebranding is approved. Both this and the Riverside Liquor Store are expected to be rebranded in the coming months. After rebranding, Otter Co-op memberships will be accepted and available for purchase at the locations.

What is an Otter Co-op membership?

Every Co-op is owned by its members, who buy a share in the company for a once-in-a-lifetime $10 fee. Once a member is approved, they will receive a Co-op number, through which they receive cash and equity back on their purchases based on the profits of the Co-op and the ability to vote for our board of directors at our annual meetings. When will we accept Otter Co-op memberships at this location?

Angry Otter Liquor must go through a transfer and approval process before they can begin selling and accepting memberships at this location. This includes transferring the liquor license, receiving approvals for signage and rebranding the location. As a result, it will take a short time to begin accepting them, but we’re working to complete this as soon as possible.

In the interim, guests can sign up for memberships here to purchase their membership in advance and receive equity and cashback at the Otter Co-op gas bars.
